Senior Product Designer (UX)

iovation is in the business of making the internet a safer place. This is an exciting opportunity to work for an established global leader in the fraud prevention and consumer authentication industries, based in Portland, Oregon. We help protect retailers, banks, insurers, gaming operators, dating sites, social networks and other businesses from credit card fraud, identity theft, account takeover and many other abuses. Our global clients leverage our device-based intelligence network that contains 4 billion devices that have touched our clients’ sites, plus 40 million fraud and abuse reports connected to some of those devices.

Position Summary

If so, keep reading! iovation is looking for a Senior Product Designer to develop an intuitive, consistent and elegant UX architecture and interaction design and implement it across our product lines and platforms. The role will work closely with the Product and Technology teams to develop a standard for the visual design, interaction patterns and accessibility standards for our web and mobile applications.  This is a green field design opportunity for a usability advocate able to hit the ground running and flourish working with an agile team committed to changing the face of fraud prevention and passwordless authentication. The problems we’ve set out to solve are complex and weighty; our applications require more than a paint job to make them pretty. We need someone to collaborate with the team, maximize the strengths of each platform and find alternatives wherever necessary. Discover and deliver the best possible experiences for our users while finding balance along the fine line between security and frustration.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Distill complex requirements into features that are incredibly simple and elegant
  • Develop and reinforce personas and user-centered design principles
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Developers to design, prototype and implement intuitive, accessible and elegant user experiences for our fraud prevention and passwordless authentication products for the web and mobile platforms
  • Function as a UX team of one who can integrate into an agile development processes, conduct research and testing and support product development
  • Play a lead role in the design of new features in our products, and evolve a consistent design language across all products while playing to the best strengths and idioms of each platform;
  • Oversee the hiring and work of in-house or contracted designers, illustrators, and other creatives


  • Bachelors degree in technology related field
  • 6+ years of applicable product design / UX experience, such as work as a user experience designer, product designer or information architect
  • A team player, flexible and open while designing, discussing, and presenting your work
  • Demonstrated ability to outline simple solutions for complex problems
  • Demonstrated understanding of user-centered design methods and best practices and ability to improve the process
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast paced, changing, collaborative and agile environment while leading process improvement efforts
  • Demonstrated experience using analytics, user research and other approaches to help make decisions and iterate on the product
  • Ability to research and analyze emerging UX trends and practices
  • Demonstrated understanding of mobile applications and browser development and layout languages
  • Demonstrated experience developing, designing and establishing UX guidelines and frameworks
  • Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting and critical thinking skills related to the design, creation and testing of mobile and web-based applications
  • Effective verbal communication skills and ability to clearly articulate and defend design
  • Mastery of visual prototyping tools, such as Balsamiq, Photoshop, Illustrator, OmniGraffle, Sketch and Adobe XD
  • Portfolio of web and mobile UX designs showcasing the sites and applications created and associated positive user experience
  • Ability to meet inflexible project deadlines
  • A passion for learning, leading, sharing and collaboration: new design tools and processes, new technical areas, better ways to get things done

Preferred Experience/Knowledge/Skills

  • Experience working for a SaaS company in a B2B context
  • Experience working in infosec domain, B2B and consumer technology

Physical Requirements

Frequent sitting, listening and talking; intermittent standing and walking; intermittent bending and twisting of the upper body (in the event of traveling/working from remote locations). Close detail work requiring visual acuity.
